Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers discusses supply of oil products on local market

6 April 2009, Monday
The Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers has today discussed issues curbing the development of the local oil product market and ways to solve them. The meeting was chaired by the prime minister Roustam Minnikhanov.

Opening the meeting, the premier claimed that the problem could not be solved without a comprehensive effort, noting that the oil products’s price, quality, as well as the manufacturers operating to full capacity should be tackled.

Attendees at the discussion were representatives from the local retail and wholesale commercial entities, heads of related ministries and departments. The meeting’s attendees raised issues related to collaboration within the Tatarstan oil industry. Each of the market actors is a budget contributor that influences the allied economy branches. With an economic crisis developing, it is important to increase internal consumption and to use local resources to the maximum, the meeting said.

To increase tax and excise duty revenues in the local budget, Tatarstan should develop its own oil recovering and refining industries, as well as filling stations networks and oil bases, owned by the oil producer Tatneft and Tatnefteproduct Holding, that cover the whole Tatarstan and some Russian regions, reports the Cabinet of Minister’s press service.
