Telecommunication infrastructure for Universiade 2013 to be created in Kazan

Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Yury Borisov and Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikahnov discussed issues of jointly working on creating the digital television network in the Republic of Tatarstan and the telecommunication infrastructure for the Universiade 2013 in Kazan at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on April 6.

The president of the TV-radio Broadcasting Equipment Developers and Producers Association, Nadezhda Vilkova, also took part in the meeting.

Tatarstan Premier Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that development of the digital TV network is of importance for agricultural areas of the republic. The project will allow to cover the whole territory of Tatarstan.

Besides, according to Tatarstan PM, the republican enterprises are ready to join the list of manufacturers and suppliers of components for receiving and transmitting equipment of digital television produced in Russia.

Tatarstan is an industrial republic. Manufacturing facilities of our enterprises give an opportunity to participate in regional programmes for realization of the digital television project and organize batch production of receiving and transmitting equipment, Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Tatarstan Prime Minister emphasized the importance of preparing the infrastructure (telecommunications, networks, digital television) for organization of the World Summer Universiade-2013 in Kazan. We have to begin preparation for such mass-scale international competitions as the Universiade-2013 now, he said, in order to consider all issues of concern and the system that will be used during the Olympics-2014 in Sochi.

Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Yury Borisov said Tatarstan is the most advanced region of the federation in terms of telecommunication infrastructure and implementation of modern technologies. In his opinion, realization of the digital TV-broadcasting project will provide with an opportunity to set into motion Russian enterprises for production of digital TV receiving and transmitting equipment. The TV-radio Broadcasting Equipment Developers and Producers Association plays a certain role in this issue, the press-service of the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers reports.
