Tatarstan deputy premier attends Italian economic forum in Moscow

The Tatarstan first deputy Prime Minister Boris Pavlov has today attended the Italian economic forum in Moscow, held at the premises of the international trade centre, reports the Cabinet of Ministers’s press service.

“The main purpose of the forum is to strengthen and expand economic relations,” said the Ambassador of Italy to Russia Vittorio Surdo. The diplomat expressed confidence in that despite the ongoing global crisis the meeting between Russian and Italian entrepreneurs was to be conducive to further bilateral cooperation.

The forum reviewed a wide range of relevant issues including the economic situation and the small and medium business system in Russia, delocalisation of Italian industrial districts in Russia, financial and insurance instruments supporting Italian firms’s foreign economic activity, regional financial instruments supporting foreign economic activity, and services rendered to the Italians banking system in Russia.

An exchange of views took place on issues related to prospective cooperation between Italy and Russia on machine building, on holding the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia’s Sochi and other.

The first deputy premier Boris Pavlov presented the Tatarstan’s investment potential to the Italian authority and business officials. The Italian Minister of Economic Development Claudio Scaiola, Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Khristenko, President of the Association of Italian Banks Corrado Faissola, President of the Association of Russian Banks Garegin Tusunyan, Chairman of the Russian Commerce and Industry Chamber Evgeniy Primakov and others delivered reports.

In conclusion of the Italian economic forum, a memorandum was signed between Italy’s Foreign Trade Institute and Russia’s Centre for International Trade, an agreement was signed between the Confederation of Italian Industry represented by the president Emma Marcegalia and Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs represented by the president Alexander Shokhin. More agreements were signed between Italian and Russian businessmen. Boris Pavlov also attended the Leonardo Awards ceremony.
