FISU delegation expected to visit Kazan in the end of April

14 April 2009, Tuesday
A delegation of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) is to arrive in Kazan on April 27, Director of the municipal unitary enterprise Universiade-2013 Directorate Vladimir Leonov told an online news conference at the Tatar-inform information agency.

According to Vladimir Leonov, FISU Secretary General Erik Saintrond and Director for the Summer Universiade Mark Vandenplas are to come to Kazan to examine sport venues. “We will hold a presentation for them, tell about our plans,” the head of The Universiade-2013 Directorate said.

“By impression based on remote communication we are holding at present, they are quite satisfied. There is the case of Belgrade, which faces the crisis situation – some sport disciplines have been removed; several events have been canceled; the opening ceremony place has been transferred. In these terms, we don’t force events. FISU representatives come to see it, discuss and make plans for the future together.”

Vladimir Leonov also said that the Tatarstan delegation is to deliver the first official report to FISU members at the World Summer Universiade-2009 in Belgrade. “At the Winter Universiade in Harbin we made an informal oral report. In Belgrade will have to give an account of what is going on and reveal our plans,” he explained.
