A tourist web portal for Kazan has today within the Tourism Industry been presented at the Kazan Fairs centre. The city’s executive committee’s head of committee of external relations Sergei Ivanov presented the website.

The new tourist resource is located at http://gokazan.ru and has been active for about 3 months. According to Mr Ivanov, creating it was necessary due to the increased role the internet plays nowadays in Russians and foreigners choosing tourist itineraries.

The web specialists studied websites of the same type in other cities, including Moscow and Saint Petersburg. As a result, a modern internet resource using advanced technologies was created.

The main part of the content is so-called web cards of the city’s sights, infrastructure, hotels and restaurants. The website presently contains some 500 such cards, with directions, telephone numbers, photos of tourist venues, as well as announcements for sporting and cultural events.

The website not only presents individual places but offers a virtual tour, designed by professional tour guides.

The resource contains many useful and informative articles about Kazan, as well as hotel and ticket booking forms. The website has an English version, and, says Mr Ivanov, is to be translated into more languages.

According to Mr Ivanov, the development of the website is a serious step towards promoting tourism in Kazan, and should allow to increase the inflow of tourists into the city.
