The world-wide known workers of art – art director of the Moscow Easter Festival Valery Gergiev, great composer Rodion Schedrin and legendary ballet dancer of Soviet and Russian ballet Maya Plisetskaya took part in a news conference at the Tatarstan Culture Ministry on April 21.

They visited Kazan as part of the 7th Easter Festival. The Easter Festival kicked off on April 19 in Moscow. The Tatarstan capital was the first stop ff the Mariinsky Theatre symphonic orchestra’s large-scale tour around 20 Russian cities.

Valery Gergiev emphasized that it was a pleasure to work on the ballet under the guidance of the strictest and most sophisticated judge – Maya Plisetskaya. She was the first ballet dancer to perform the role of Syuyumbike at the Mariinsky Theatre. The maestro also stressed he would be glad to show this production in Kazan.

Maya Plisetskaya shared her impressions about this role: “It was a wonderful performance; we so much loved Yarullin, who was very young when he died at war. Classical music in national colour is very beautiful. This ballet must exist,” she said.
