RT Culture Minister: Culture of Kazan concept provides an opportunity to develop

The concept “Culture of Kazan” was presented at the 40th session of the Kazan City Duma on Wednesday April 29. Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture Zilya Valeyeva took part in the discussion.

The head of the Kazan Board for Culture, Dinara Kamaleyeva, delivered a keynote report at the session. She tried to reveal the main goal of the concept. According to her, the Culture of Kazan concept contains key priorities of the city’s cultural policy in compliance with Kazan’s development strategy until 2015. The concept is based on innovative approach to the city development.

The concept sets the following purposes: to extend accessibility of culture services for all categories and groups of people, including the disabled, form united cultural space, consolidate the educational role of culture, create conditions for finding out talented children and youth, provide stable development of the traditional musical and art education for children and youth, modernize library services, preserve cultural-historical heritage of Kazan, preserve spiritual and confessional values aimed at satisfaction of people’s religious needs and promoting Kazan as the centre of multi-confessional spiritual culture, etc.

Tatarstan Minister of Culture Zilya Valeyeva shared her point of view on the concept. She believes one way to demonstrate culture is to speak your native language. Sometimes in Kazan young people prefer English to Tatar. In her opinion, this process is caused by globalization. That’s why we need to preserve the basic or national culture, including the culture of Kazan Tatars and multiple nations living in our city, she thinks.

Zilya Valeyeva indicated that many guests visiting Tatarstan pay attention to tolerance.
