Daimler delegation tours Kamaz premises

A delegation from the auto maker Daimler led by Chairman of the board Dieter Zetsche is on on a reconnaissance visit to Kamaz.

Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov attended the meeting.

The guests toured the main conveyer belt, Kamaz Diesel, the forging plant and the premises of the Cummins Kama joint venture. At the research and development centre, the German partners examined the range of autos and were presented the Kamaz 6560 full-drive truck.

Later, the Daimler shareholders and Kamaz executives exchanged views in the conference hall.

Summarising the visit to Kamaz, Dieter Zetsche noted that his first acquaintance with the plant made him confident that Daimler had done the right thing buying a stake in the auto giant. Further joint steps should now be resolutely pursued, the high-profile guest said, reports the plant’s press service.

Last December, the auto concern Daimler AG bought a 10-percent stake in Kamaz owned by the Troika Dialog investment group. The cost of the deal was $250 million.

Kamaz is scheduled to hold a special shareholders’s meeting on 11 March to elect a board of directors that is supposed to include one Daimler representative.
