Firdaus Kabirov second in voting for January’s best Russian sportsman

Racer of KAMAZ-Master Firdaus Kabirov took the second place, according to results of the voting for the best Russian sportsman of January. In the poll organized by Sport TV-channel the winner of Dakar followed biathlon competitor Yekaterina Yuryeva who was the first.

The first stage of the voting was held in the Internet and by SMS. Kabirov took the second place among 5 candidates, taking the lead over figure skaters Yana Khokhlova and Sergei Novitsky, bobsleighing competitor Sergei Zubkov and tennis player Dinara Safina.

Two finalists – Kabirov and Yekaterina Yuryeva took part in a 40-minute voting. As a result, Kabirov collected 33.5 per cent of votes, Yuryeva – 66.5 per cent.
