Carl Zeiss concern initiates opening microscopy laboratories at Kazan State University

KSU Rector Myakzyum Salakhov met with Carl Zeiss concern representatives at the university on January 29.

Carl Zeiss delegation is headed by the member of Carl Zaiss NTS Gmbh Board of Managers Peter Fruhstorfer, the university’s press-service reports. Kazan State University’s Pro-Rector for scientific work Danis Nurgaliyev, Carl Zeiss manager for the Russian Federation and the CIS Maksim Igelnik, chief of the Department of nano-technological systems and electronic microscopy Alexander Ulyanenkov took part in the meeting as well.

The talks on strategic partnership were initiated by Carl Zeiss. Peter Fruhstrofer informed about the concern work in the beginning of the meeting. According to his words, the concern is remarkable for a unique legal form of the fund. It owns two groups of enterprises – Carl Zeiss group, and Schott Glass group.

One of the company’s key tasks is to support science. The company cooperates with Russian Academy of Science and different universities of the country. “The Republic of Tatarstan is a self-sufficient region as well as a federal “donor”; Kazan State University is of particular importance in the region. Taking it into account, we would like to achieve a new quality level of our relations,” Maksim Igelnik said.

An agreement on strategic partnership is expected to be signed in the future. A Center of “superiority” in microscopy will be established with participation of Kazan State University. The university scientists will visit the largest universities of the world where such centers and pass training.
