Bulgarian winemakers attend round table at Tatarstan Industry Ministry

28 January 2009, Wednesday
Wine producers from Bulgaria have today attended a meeting at the premises of the Tatarstan’s Industry and Trade Ministry, reports the ministry’s press service.

Bulgaria was represented at the meeting by the Emtex company’s President Russi Ivanov and the La Vinchi company’s President Mircha Albu. Tatarstan was represented by the Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Linar Latypov, officials from the Goslakogolinspektsia alcohol circulation authority, the Tatspirtprom alcohol producer and other related firms.

Mr Ivanov told the meeting Bulgaria had in 2008 produced some 20 million litres of wine material and had supplied some 70 million litres to Russia. “We are set to offer you both loose and bottled Bulgarian wine, as well as customs cleared European wine,” said Ivanov.

Mr Albu told the meeting that his company supplied grape wines, assembled in the collections called Wild Horse, Exotic, Tropic, Cahors, Corrida, Spanish Tango and LaVinchi. The company’s partners include famous wine makers based in Spain, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Chile and Argentina.

The Tatspirtprom officials displayed an interest in 7-8 wine items. It was agreed that LaVinchi provides wine samples, after which the parties will continue the negotiations.

The Bulgarian and Tatarstan businessmen decided to continue the negotiations in Moscow at the food, drink and raw material international exhibition ProdExpo2009 due in February.

The Bulgarian delegation had arrived in Kazan on 26 January. The main purpose of the visit is to discuss prospective areas for bilateral cooperation and to implement the agreements reached after the deputy minister Linar Latypov’s visit to Bulgaria in October 2008.
