Shalyapin festival gets together again world theatre stars

Tatar State Academic Theatre n.a. M.Jalil prepares to take part in the XXVII Shalyapin International Opera Festival. It will be held in Kazan on February 7-20 and is devoted to 135th anniversary of permanent opera seasons in Kazan.

This year the festival as usual gets together popular participants – 40 singers, the representatives of near and far abroad (U.S., Germany, Italy, Sweden, South Korea, Ukraine, Belorussia, Lithuania, etc.), as well as the singers of leading Russian theatres (including Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres).

The public will listen to their favourite singers: Akhmed Agadi, Viktor Chernomortsev (Mariinsky theatre, St.Petersburg), Yuri Nechayev (the Bolshoi theatre), Georgy Oniani, Iordanka Derilova (Germany), Susanna Chakhoyan, Igor Borko (Ukraine), Tatyana Bogacheva and Vladimir Bogachev (Moscow).

Todd Vilander (The Metropolitan Opera, New York), Irina Samoilova (Gelikon Opera, Moscow) and Honoured Artist of Russia Vasily Svyatkin will participate in the festival for the first time.

The programme of the festival includes 8 performances. The event will be opened with the premier of the season – the opera “Rigoletto” by G.Verdi (the musical director and conductor of the opera is Marco Boemi (Italy). The end of the festival will be marked by two grand gala concerts with participation of the world theatre stars.

The performances will be conducted by the main conductor of the theatre Renat Salavatov, and the main invited conductor maestro Marco Boemi (Italy).
