Tatarstan State Council Chairman: "Election in 2009 is an examination for maturity"

A session of the Republican public movement "Tatarstan - New Century" was held at the National-Cultural Center "Kazan" on January 22.

The first issues at the session were focused on the movement’s tasks in the campaign of the March 1 Tatarstan State Council deputies election. 143 million rubles have been allocated for organization of the election. 2855 million voters are registered in the republic.

"Election in the difficult year of 2009 is a maturity examination. This exam must be passed with good results," Chairman of "Tatarstan - New Century" movement’s political council, Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Moukhametshin stated at the session.

The parliament speaker listed the constructive processes in Tatarstan, which were realized on the initiative and with participation of the largest political party - United Russia. Large social sites were constructed on the territory of the republic in the last years - the 29th ice palace was put into service in Kukmor not long ago. Despite the world financial crisis, the year of 2008 for Tatarstan was positive. GRP achieved the level of 930 billion rubles in 2008. A record-breaking harvest was reaped - 6.2 million tons of grain.

According to words, of Farid Moukhametshin, "Tatarstan - New Century" is a serious public organization; people respect it. All members of the organization must consider the March 1 election with responsibility. Formation of the new republican parliament for five years is a task of much importance.
