The role and importance of statistics rise in the modern conditions every year

January 20, the final board of the Territorial Office of the Federal Service of State Statistics in the Republic of Tatarstan (Tatstat) and RT Committee for Social-Economic Monitoring was held with the participation of Rustam Minnikhanov, the Prime Minister of Tatarstan. During the meeting the Head of Tatarstan Government appreciated the role of information technologies in the activity of the Sate statistics institutions.

According to him the role and importance of statistics rise in the modern conditions every year. In the conditions of world crisis a holding of operative and reliable information of social-economic activities becomes strongly important.

Valery Kandilov, the Head of Tatstat reported about the results of the activity in 2008. He informed that the results of the investigation of the living standards and quality of the RT population will be ready in March, 2009. The investigation was held in April-May, 2008 by the order of the RT Government and under the technical support of the World Bank.

Valery Kandilov informed also that the preparation for All-Russian population census was started in the Tatstat (the census will be held on October 14-15, 2010).

Nikolay Nikiforov, the Director General of the RT Center of Information Technologies (CIT) reported about the cooperation with the statistics institutions. He informed about the results of the automation of housekeeping calculations and transition of the republic to electronic housekeeping calculations. In 2007, when this work was started, the electronic housekeeping calculations was established in 6 districts of Tatarstan. By the end of 2008 the automation was finished in all districts of the republic.

Rustam Minnikhanov required paying special attention to the introduction of new technologies of housekeeping calculations. Today, the housekeeping calculations are an instrument for analysis of tax potential of municipalities and must assist to development of local self-government in Tatarstan.
