Tatarstan can cooperate with Iran in economy and culture

Eastern Azerbaijan Province (Islamic Republic of Iran) considers opportunities of investing in manufacture of heavy and light tractors on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, development of joint projects between Tatarstan and Iran universities, and opening a direct air communication between Kazan and Tabriz.

Governor of Eastern Azerbaijan Ahmad Alireza Beygi stated it during the meeting with Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov at the Cabinet of Ministers.

A delegation of Eastern Azerbaijan Province headed by Ahmad Alireza Beygi arrived in Kazan on January 14 to discuss cooperation with the Republic of Tatarstan.

Memorandum on establishing of twin city relations between Kazan and Tabriz cities was signed on January 15 at Kazan City Hall.

Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov said at the meeting that "the Russian Federation authorities pursue friendly policy with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Tatarstan, as a subject of the federation, is glad to cooperate with Eastern Azerbaijan Province."

According to words of Tatarstan Government head, "importance of our republic for Iran is determined by presence of this country’s general consulate in Kazan, which is another connecting link in bilateral relations."

From Rustam Minnikhanov’s point of view, friendly regions serve for consolidation and more stable relations of the two countries - Russia and Iran.

Governor of Eastern Azerbaijan Ahmad Alireza Beygi indicated that the province businessmen got acquainted with technical and economic potential of Tatarstan, the special economic zone "Alabuga". Experience exchange in this field will be established based on results of Iranian delegation’s visit to Tatarstan.
