18 November 2002, Monday
The agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and Foreign Trade Bank (Vneshtorgbank) was signed on November 15 in the Kazan Kremlin. This was preceded by long and uneasy negotiations with the management of Vneshtorgbank. However, as President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev noticed after the ceremony of signing, conversations with such bank cannot be simple, but the most important - they are constructive.

The agreement signed in the Kremlin has a frame character. It emphasizes the intention "to cooperate, without separating large and small". Interaction in the sphere of business, small business, and work with large enterprises is supposed also. In opinion of M.Shaimiev, the republic has many opportunities to realize joint projects. It concerns both under-way projects, for example, on KamAZ, and those areas where the cooperation is "to start from scratch". There are projects with evident efficiency. It concerns the republican oil industry, Nizhnekamskneftekhim, Kazanorgsintez. We know the Vneshtorgbank team, its huge authority, qualification, and we are sure we shall achieve success, the RT President said.
