General Council of All Russia in the Kazan Kremlin

On August 1, President of Tatarstan, co-chairman of the All Russia party Mintimer Shaimiev received in his Kremlin residence Chairman of the General Council of All Russia, member of the Council of Federation of Federal Assembly Alexander Bespalov and members of the Council, deputies of the RF State Duma who arrived in Kazan to meet with the regional active members of the party.

During the meeting M.Shaimiev said the party needs to find its public image. It's an urgent task, as we are nearing the elections to the State Duma. But the task is difficult. In M.Shaimiev's opinion, the party needs to define its position on key issues which affect vital interests of all population of the country, such, for example, as attitude to natural monopolies, reforming of power system of the country. One of the tasks is to make the population aware of the land reform: the law on the land has been adopted, yet there is lack of explanatory work. The President is especially concerned with the division of powers between the centre and regions, opinions in this respect, but the party should develop its consolidated position. What events in the Russian political life should be supported, what ideas should be picked up, how to implement them - these are the tasks of the party structures.

As the participants told journalists after the meeting, they were unanimous that Russia should be a democratic federal state.
