Meeting with Pavel Borodin

On July 18 in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met the State Secretary of the Russia-Belorus Union Pavel Borodin.

During a meeting they discussed issues determining the role of the Republic of Tatarstan in integration between Russia and Byelorussia, opportunities of more effective use of agroindustrial and intellectual potential of the republic in programs of the Union. It was marked that Tatarstan keeps a prominent place in commodity circulation between Russia and Byelorussia exceeding 100 million dollars. Tatarstan is among the first ten regions which successfully cooperate with Byelorussia.

The two leaders also tackled the issues of cooperation between the largest factories MAZ and KamAZ. In P.Borodin's opinion, it would be possible to solve many of their problems by creation of the state consortium of the Union on manufacture of MAZ and KamAZ cars. Special attention was given to mutually advantageous cooperation in the field of agricultural mechanical engineering, petroleum and petrochemistry, aircraft construction, investments in agriculture and petrochemical complex of Tatarstan, creation of the transport corridor Europe - Byelorussia - Russia Asia - Far East.
