Mendeleyev Congress to pass in Kazan

The course of preparation to the XVII Mendeleyev Congress was discussed during the meeting between President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and President of Russian Mendeleyev Chemical Society Pavel Sarkisov in the Kazan Kremlin on May 27.

The Congress is scheduled for September of the next year; it will bring together leading scientists of Russia and foreign countries, including Nobel Prize winners. The program includes reports on latest achievements in the field of chemistry, with a special emphasis to Tatarstan's experience. President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and President of Russian Academy of Sciences Yury Osipov will become honorable presidents of the Congress.

TThe dialogue of the presidents developed into a discussion of the problems of educational reforms, leading scientific directions. In particular, the parties evaluated the brain drain as an investment into western economy, when the person completes his education in the homeland and works abroad. .
