Mintimer Shaimiev: “Our duty - to remember a feat of the son of our people”

Today, 100-anniversary from birthday of Musa Dzhalil, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev has laid flowers to a monument of the outstanding Tatar poet - hero.

Under sounds of solemn music the head of republic and persons accompanying laid wreaths to bottom of Musa Dzhalil's monument on 1 May square, before Spassky tower of the Kazan Kremlin. In solemn ceremony took part Chief of RT President Administration Yury Kamaltynov, First Deputy Prime Minister Ravil Muratov, Deputy Chairmen of RT State Council Alexander Gusev and Rimma Ratnikova , veterans of Great Patriotic war, deputies of republican parliament, representatives of creative intelligentzia of Tatarstan. The head of republic has placed flowers also to a portrait bas-relief of participants of underground group Dzhalil -Kurmash, located near to the monument.

In conversation with representatives of mass-media Mintimer Shaimiev emphasized, that Musa Dzhalil is a unique poet and writer being simultaneously the hero of Soviet Union and the winner of the Lenin award. «During Great Patriotic war he met death in torture chambers of fascist prisons, but remained true to the oath, - the President of Tatarstan marked. - it is good, that his creativity, last verses came to light In opinion of the head of republic, it would be great injustice if the person with such a tragic destiny had remained in nothingness. «As a matter of fact, prior to the beginning of 50th years he was not recollected, there were no data», - M.Shaimiev noted, having emphasized, that unforgettable glory to the Tatar poet has brought a well-known collection of verses “Maobit note – books” published after his death. «Our duty - to remember a feat of the son of our people, I am not afraid of this word, to glorify him from generation to generation», - the chapter of republic expressed opinion.
