Visit of Tatarstan President to Sweden completed

The official delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan led by President Mintimer Shaimiev spent the last day of the visit to Sweden in the southernmost region of Sweden - Skone.

On this day they got throughly acquainted with Skone. It has a new organization - Regional Assembly - with the right to decide on most important issues for the region: problems of business, public health services, culture, public transport. The economy is based on agriculture and tourism; construction industry, manufacture of medical equipment, pharmaceutical, food, light industry are well-developed. 16-km bridge connecting the capital of Denmark Copenhagen and the Swedish city of Malme is viewed as a symbol of mutual gravitation and regional development.

The political and business elite of Skone, in their turn, learnt more about Tatarstan's potential. The presentation of the Republic of Tatarstan organized by the RT Ministry of trade and external economic cooperation passed on March 27. The same day the delegation members visited a scientific town IDEON in the city of Lund, learnt about new scientific industrial developments.

The Tatarstan guests were accompanied with a big group of journalists of the Swedish regional and central media. After the presentation, Mintimer Sahimiev told journalists that the reality surpasses all imagination and cooperation between Tatarstan and the Swedish region Skone has good prospects. He said that a working group will be created to study specific projects.
