Visit of American ambassador

On March 7 in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with US Ambassador to the RF Alexander Vershbow.

The RT President told the visitor about Tatarstan's social and economic position, actively developing small and medium business, bank system, prospects of Tatarstan-American cooperation and other things. Special consideration was given to the issue of federal construction in Russia.

Tatarstan is developing according to its own model, Alexander Vershbow said, and it attracts our investors. But uniform legal space is equally important for them. The Ambassador expressed readiness to begin close cooperation and develop contacts with American businessmen. He assured of good prospects in this filed.

M.Shaimiev marked that we never gave any occasion for disappointment to anybody of those who contacted Tatarstan. We are carrying out the program for support of small and medium business. The bank system is well built. Tatarstan is a solvent republic, but will involve foreign investments to carry out large projects.

Later in the day Alexander Vershbow met with heads of Tatarstan religious confessions: Chairman of Muslim REligious Board mufti Gusman khazrat Iskhakov, Archbishop Kazan and Tatarstan Anastasy, chairman of Kazan Jewish religious community Alexander Velder. Accroding to him, Tatarstan can really serve an example of tolerance and peaceful co-existence of different ethnic groups and religious confessions for the entire world.
