Visit of President of Iran to Tatarstan

March 15, the delegation of Islamic Republic of Iran led by President Seid Mohammad Hatami arrived in Kazan . The delegation consisted of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iran Kamal Harrazi , Minister of Defense and armed forces rear admiral Ali Shamhani , the chapter of administration of President Mohammed Ali Abtahi, Exraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Islamic Republic Iran to Russian Federation Mehdi Safari, other officials.

At the international airport " Kazan " the Iranian delegation was met by the President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, RT PM Rustam Minnekhanov , RT State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin , members of the Government, heads of the ministries and departments.

Visiting of Tatarstan is a part of my visit to the Russian Federation, told Mohammad Hattami to the journalists after the arrival in Kazan, I have arrived here from Saint Petersburg. Tatarstan as Muslim republic is attractive to Iran and has been the object of our attention. I have arrived to visit "brother" - Mister Shajmiev, continued the President of Iran, and hope, during negotiations we shall agree economic cooperation. He also has emphasized, that good mutual relations between Iran and Russia are being spread on all subjects of the Russian Federation.

The same day in the Kazan Kremlin, in RT president residence an official meeting of the President of Republic Tatarstan Mintrimer Shaimiev with President Islamic Republic of Iran Seid Mohammad Hatami was held.

Mintimer Shaimiev opening the meeting, marked the huge opportunities appearing for revival of old historical connections between Tatarstan and Iran. As an example of historical relations head of republic has mentioned about the copy of ancient medical manuscript, copied in Iran under the permission of the President. One of those whose works were included in the ancient manuscript, appeared to be Bulgar scientist. This fact began a contribution to restoration of historical validity concerning Tatar people, emphasized Mintimer Shaimiev.

We had a little time for dialogue, but those who communicate with hearts, do not need to have much time, said in return speech the President of Iran Mohammad Hatami. He noted, that Iran is going to develop cooperation with Russia and Tatarstan not only in sphere of culture, but also in trade and economic and scientific and technical fields. President welcomed revival of Islam in our republic after long stagnation, having named building mosque Kul Sharif a symbol Tatarstan power.

President M.Shaimiev noted, that he deeply had reflected over the offer of mister Hatami to develop dialogue of civilizations, made during summit of heads of states in New York. The president Hatami informed, that he had seen this dialogue of civilizations in Tatarstan, on which l and peacefully coexist different religions and different nations.

Mintimer Shaimiev has thanked the President Hattami for the invitation to visit Islamic Republic Iran.
