The Chess Match "Tatarstan - Europe" devoted to the Youth Year in Tatarstan will become an event for all Russian sports, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev said at the meeting with famous chess players. Among the participants of the meeting were international grandmaster among men and women Maya Chiburdanidze, international grandmasters Anatoly Karpov, Alisa Gallyamova and others who arrived for the match on August 14.

The President told the chess players about the Kazan chess history. Created in the end of 19th century, the Kazan chess club became the fourth one in Russia. The world chess history keeps memories of Rashit Nezhmetdinov - Tatarstan chess patriarch, whose name was given to the Kazan children chess school in 1975.

Wishing success to the commands "Tatarstan" and "Europe", and handing the match logo to the President concluded the meeting.
