15 August 2001, Wednesday
No matter what music will be composed in future, compositions by Anvar Bakirov marked by sincerity, will not get lost, many generations will listen to them, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev said during a farewell meeting held on August 13 in the RT State Concert Hall.

Anvar Bakirov was one of the founders of national professional music. He worked in different genres - wrote operas, ballets, musical comedies, and symphonies. He composed more than 200 songs, and also first musical tutorials in Tatar. He founded several children's musical schools in the republic.

It's not simple to be a pioneer. His works are not often properly understood, but time passes, we grow, we change and begin to understand them. Thereby, great sons of our people are an example of foreknowledge. This is their merit. They raise on a higher level our musical art, all our people, the RT President said.
