The Republic of Tatarstan celebrated the including Kazan Kremlin in the List of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of UNESCO on June, 21. Now this historical architectural museum-reserve is the worldІs property. UNESCO symbols appeared on the Kremlin wall and two Kremlin towers this day. The deputy general director of UNESCO Munir Buchenaki arrived for opening this memorable marks for the first time in Russian history. He presented to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan the certificate on the official recognition of Kazan Kremlin as a monument of cultural heritage. He thanked Kazan citizens for the concerning about Kremlin and emphasized that date was the beginning of new life and new thinking for city dwellers, it was necessary to keep Kremlin for future generations.
The inscription of Kazan Kremlin on the World Heritage List coincided with the including Kazan in Organization of Cities of the World Heritage. The diploma of membership, the charter and the flag of this organization were presented to major of city Kamil Ishakov by director of regional branch of Western and Eastern European cities of Organization of Cities of the World Heritage Katalin Kish. And the adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation Olga Ivanova called Tatarstan as the model of successful overcoming of the interconfessional and interethnic conflicts. She informed about promotion of Kazan for UNESCO premium competition ЇThe Cities for the Pieceю and presented to K. Ishakov the gold medal Ї the Palm Branch of Pieceю.
During the meeting with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan held in Kazan Kremlin that day the deputy general director of UNESCO Munir Buchenaki confessed that he might be considered as the ambassador of Tatarstan to UNESCO. Munir Buchenaki noted the Kazan was a crossroad of civilizations. The cultural heritage relates not only to the past but to the future.
Mintimer Shaimiev told the documents for including Bulgar on the List of the Worlds Heritage were prepared, the work of preparing documents for Свияжск was continuing. The main goal of UNESCO is making all cultural, historical values to property of people all over the world. The President M. Shaimiev emphasized, they were grateful that their objects became worthy to the attention of this organization, it was necessary to keep them for people from all over the world.
On 16 October in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new exposition “The Yusupovs. Luxury across the Centuries” at the Hermitage Kazan Exposition Center and which has been prepared especially for the 20th anniversary of the Hermitage’s first representational centre established in 2005 by celebrations of the Kazan Millennium.
On 28 August the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev took part in a plenary session of the National Assembly of the World Tatar Congress held with participation of about 1 thousand delegates from 68 regions of Russia and 27 foreign countries in the Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan’
On 20 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev attended horse races held at the International Equestrian Complex in Kazan and dedicated to Kazan Sabantuy.
On 6 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev laid flowers to the monument of the Great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin by the Jalil State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
