Industrial production in Tatarstan for the first six months of 2001 has made 101,6 bln rubles or 107,3% in year-on-year terms. On the whole, republic is able to support progressive growth of commercial output. Actual figures even leave behind the indexes incorporated in this year's budget.
This information was published on July 10 in the Kazan Kremlin, where the republican meeting led by the Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev briefly summed up the preliminary results of industrial activity for the first six months of 2001.
You create the basis of republic's development, the wealth of the whole population depends on your activity, said M.Shaimiev, addressing directors of the industrial enterprises. First of all, you should be concerned with further increase in production efficiency. You need to move forward, increasing wages, being competitive in tough conditions of market economy.
An actual increase in the incomes of population has made 6% in year-on-year terms. Another positive tendency is growth of investments to the fixed capital, for the six months they have almost reached 20 bln rubles (125% in year-on-year terms).
Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov presented a comprehensive report on results of industrial development. He marked that for the first six months most industries have enjoyed the industrial growth. The oil industry takes a lead with 37% in production totals: 13,9 mln tons of oil and 367 mln cubic metres of gas have been produced for the six months. The republican oil industry has a challenge: to raise annual oil production up to 30 mln tons by 2015.
Some positive changes are evident in Tatarstan defense industry. The Kazan Helicopter Factory (industrial growth of 130,3% in year-on-year terms) and KMPO (103,8 %) have proved to be the best adapted to market conditions.
Success of mechanical engineering in many aspects depends on Kamaz activities. Although, the Kamaz output has been up compared to the last year, the scheduled indexes were not executed - the output made 7,9 bln rubles instead of the planned 9 bln.
Mintimer Shaimiev emphasized the problem of production of the equipment for the Tatarsatn oil industry at local enterprises. Tatneft is a reliable, solvent customer, and all necessary new equipment for the company should be made in the republic, this means both budget revenues and significant support of local enterprises, many of which today suffer the lack of orders.
In M.Shaimiev's opinion, Tatarstan industrialists need to strengthen positive aggression in the Russian and international markets, which is a major condition of progress.
