Tatarstan-made air-engine - world's best

18 June 2001, Monday
On June 16, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev received Russian Vice-premier Ilya Klebanov.

All tough solutions on aircraft-industry development today are at the "output" stage, I.Klebanov said while examining Ansat and Mi-17 helicopters at the airfield of Kazan Helicopter Factory.

The solutions are connected with reforming of the industry and new orders to be performed by Tatarstan enterprises as well, he said. The Russian Defense Ministry will hold a tender for 100 helicopters in July. Kazan Helicopter Factory participates in the tender with high chances of getting the order.

The situation with Kazan Aviation Production Association remains rather complicated, but the perspective of Tu-214 lease promotion is highly promising. A fundamentally new engine NK-93 to be launched in production has great potential. I.Klebanov emphasized that today it is the best air-engine both in Russia and world over.

Tatarstan President M.Shaimiev, Russian Vice-premier I.Klebanov and other watched a mini air-show, demonstrating flight characteristics of Ansat and Mi-17.
