To get truth on essence of the Islam to people

June 8, the international symposium "Islamic culture in Volga - Ural region" has opened in Kazan. Well-known scholars - historians and orientalists from Russia and 11 countries of the world, representatives of public organizations and religious faiths have got together for participation in the event.
The urgency of similar dialogue marked President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev taking part in opening ceremony of the forum. M.Shaimiev has called participants of the forum to get truth on essence of Islam to the people. The Islam is peaceful and progressive religion, emphasized RT President.
General director of this authoritative international organization Ekmeleddin Ishanoglu has acquainted the audience with the congratulatory message of the Secretary General of the Organization "Islamic conference" (OIC) Abdelhamid Belkezizi, who expressed desire to visit Tatarstan in the near future.
Within the framework of conference the exhibition "the Islam and spiritual culture of Tatar people X-XX of centuries" is open.

On 6 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev laid flowers to the monument of the Great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin by the Jalil State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
