Through science - to economic progress

The annual general meeting of the Tatarstan Academy of sciences was held on February 27 in Kazan, with participation of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev.

The 2000 became a special year for the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. Thanks to coordination of scientific researches in the field of oil production, petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, agriculture and other areas, important scientific results were achieved. The republic entered the XXI century with a powerful reserve, taking a worthy place in the world of science.

In 2002, the RT Academy of sciences will be 10 years. It is small period in the important work, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev said. Without science, it is impossible to solve the problem of further economic growth. And this is the essentials of the republic's development strategy. To achieve success, it is necessary to take highest Russian and international standards in education, medicine, personnel training, to use high information technologies.

Analyzing the status of Tatarstan's large enterprises, Mintimer Shaimiev gave the examples of high technologies allowing to maintain and successfully develop the manufacture, adapting it to market conditions.
