Cooperating with German petrochemistry leaders

Opportunities for further strengthening of cooperation between Tatarstan and German oil companies were discussed on January 12 at the meeting of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev with President of Mineraloil-Rohshtoff-Handel GmbH R.Krening, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wintershall AG M.Klain and the companyІs CEO G.Detharding.

With every meeting, progress in joint long-term projects becomes visible, noted Mintimer Shaimiev, wishing even more successful development to the cooperation started in previous years.

In October of the last year, it was decided to investigate transportation, acceptance and processing potential of the gas condensate from Western Siberia at OAO "Nizhnekamskneftekhim". Today Wintershall has almost completed all preparatory measures for gas condensate production at the deposits of Novy Urengoi. This condensate, according to H.Detharding, could be used successfully by Nizhnekamskneftekhim as a raw material after preliminary stabilization at the Surgut factory. Wintershall is ready to begin condensate production and delivery to Nizhnekamsk in 2002.

One more important issue discussed at the meeting was diversification of different types of production at OAO "Petrokam" and securing a proper niche on the Russian market. Today "Petrokam" makes 60,000 tons of monoethylene glicol a year - this liquid is used to receive synthetic fibres, antifreezes, polymeric materials.

According to M.Klain, Tatarstan has created very favorable investment conditions and it is important to take a proper advantage of it - the Russian market of chemical products, in his opinion, will expand substantially in the near future.
