Buinsk anniversaries

The Buinsk people celebrated three holidays at once on October 31: 220-th anniversary of the city, 70-th anniversary of the district and farmers' holiday "Harvest - 2000". Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev arrived to congratulate the citizens.

Buinsk received the status of a chief city of the district upon the decree of Catherine II and coat of arms representing a silver sheep on a green field - symbol of plenty. And this year in connection with the anniversaries, Buinsk was awarded with the status of a city of republican importance by the order of the RT State Council.

Mintimer Shaimiev noted that people who worked on this land at all times were able to do serious work and achieve good results, in many respects being an example both for the district and the whole republic.

The President visited the Buinsk hippodrome and took part in the opening of two socially important establishments: a secondary school and Palace of Culture.

Addressing the grand meeting at the Palace of Culture, the President thanked the workers of the district who from year to year achieved high results in manufacture of the agricultural production, holding republic's leading positions.
