On November 2, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev welcomed in his residence three Tatarstan Olympic sportsmen and their trainers.

The names of honored sports master of the USSR and Russia Svetlana Dyomina, honored sports masters of Russia Anastasiya Kolesnikova and Denis Kapustin are added to the history of the Russian Olympic Team and Tatarstan history.

The meeting was held in warm and friendly atmosphere, even though it tackled serious questions. Mintimer Shaimiev thanked all trainers who had brought up Olympic champions. We do not "stand still" in sports, noted the head of Tatarstan, the hockey team "Ak bars" has been playing well for several years, basketball and bandy are gaining ground. A special basketball hall is under construction, one more ice palace will be completed in the near future.

The tasks are set, Mintimer Shaimiev joked in conclusion, we shall prepare for the next Olympic games. He also offered to include sports competitions in the program of celebrating Kazan 1000-th anniversary.
