Mintimer Shaimiev: «Construction of regional roads is a vital issue»

On June 23th President of Republic Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, RT Prime minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of transport of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin took part in a joint session of board of the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation and the Government of Republic Tatarstan titled «On regional tasks of implementing Transport strategy of the Russian Federation for the period to 2020». A broad range of issues was discussed at the board session from development of the international transport corridors with erection of logistical terminals up to development of internal waterways and adjustment of the regional aircraft service.

"There are no doubts that in Russia there are all necessary forces and means for expansion and perfection of a transport infrastructure. However, 5 billion roubles which are allocated for roads, it is possible to name a mite of comfort, but in no way a solution of problem. And it is happening when 50 percent of settlements of the Russian Federation have no access roads with a firm covering", - Mintimer Shaimiev noted in his saying.

Over the republic the percent of the settlements which are not having access roads with a firm covering is almost similar to all-Russian one. At the same time, in Tatarstan absolute hundred -percent of gasification of settlements is provided, all schools of republic are connected to the Internet. On this positive background the transport branch obviously lags behind.

"Necessity has matured to settle the situation of transport problems at state level. This is not only my opinion, but also opinion of heads of other regions of the country. Everything that in our forces we would make for this purpose. Construction of regional roads is a vital issue. The state cannot be safe if there is no well-being on all its territory", - the head of republic emphasized.
