During celebrating Sabantui President of Tatarstan held meeting with Ambassador of the Great Britain to Russia

 On June 24 President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev during celebrating the main Sabantui of the republic at the international horse-racing complex "Kazan" held a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Russia Anthony Russel Brenton.


Before the beginning of official opening of a carnival the head of republic accompanied by Deputy Prime minister - RT Minister of Agriculture Marat Akhmetov and mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin saw the farmsteads of Sabantui where cities and regions of the republic have opened small "representations". The Sabantui for a long time has turned to a national holiday, therefore national creativity have demonstrated representatives of different nationalities - Tatars, Russians, Chuvashs, Maris, etc. The President of Tatarstan talked to "inhabitants" of a festive small town, tasted meals of Tatarstan manufacturers, watched performances of amateur actors.

During festive action in a hall for negotiations of the international horse-racing complex "Kazan" the President of Tatarstan had a talk with the Ambassador of the Great Britain to Russia.

As British Ambassador told upon end of a meeting in interview to journalists, the purpose of his arrival in Kazan - acquaintance with our city and republic. "Last time, I was here 10 years ago, - he noted, - for this time much has changed". Mr. Brenton gives a special attention to expanding trading communications and cooperation in sphere of investments. Participation of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev in presentation of economic potential of Tatarstan in London would promote this process. Holding of this presentation, as the British diplomat informed, is planned in October of this year. From his part Anthony Russell Brenton declared readiness to support in realization of the given project.


Besides, the Ambassador of the Great Britain marked peaceful inter-confessional and interethnic conditions in our republic, having added, that this experience would be useful and for his country. "In comparison with other regions of Russia you have strong economy, strong industry and good plans for the future when oil will run low, - Mr. Brenton emphasized. - Once we also had oil - now we are importing it. Probably, our experience would be useful to you and on the contrary".


The British visitor shared out his impressions regarding the Sabantui "a beautiful festival, - he said. - I have never before saw such a light national holiday. I am very pleased".
