Mintimer Shaimiev: Intellectual potential of the republic will make us wealthy

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev visited the “Idea” Innovation Technopark, the central unit of which is business-incubator. The centre is aimed at ensuring early stage development of new undertakings, teaching staff, creating favourable, “incubatory” conditions and providing resources for rapid growth of innovation projects and commercialising technologies.
The presentation of the business-incubator was attended by RT Prime minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Kazan Mayor Kamil Iskhakov, heads of ministries and organisations, directors of large enterprises, rectors of leading high schools of the republic.
The guests saw new high tech achievements in the sphere of power engineering, mechanical engineering, petrochemistry, agriculture, et al. With a special interest Mintimer Shaimiev talked with creators of the system allowing to reduce energy loss in city electric transport and compact plasma device for industrial cutting of metal-roll.
Talking to journalists, the President marked the importance of the technopark, estimated the first results of its work and, in particular, good combination of fundamental and applied studies. Today, Tatarstan is in the possession of the enormous intellectual potential, which will make us wealthy, Mintimer Shaimiev said. We have to create all the conditions for self-actualisation of gifted, creative people, and especially youth. The early stage ideas are to be followed by marketable products.
On 16 October in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new exposition “The Yusupovs. Luxury across the Centuries” at the Hermitage Kazan Exposition Center and which has been prepared especially for the 20th anniversary of the Hermitage’s first representational centre established in 2005 by celebrations of the Kazan Millennium.
On 28 August the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev took part in a plenary session of the National Assembly of the World Tatar Congress held with participation of about 1 thousand delegates from 68 regions of Russia and 27 foreign countries in the Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan’
On 20 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev attended horse races held at the International Equestrian Complex in Kazan and dedicated to Kazan Sabantuy.
On 6 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev laid flowers to the monument of the Great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin by the Jalil State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
