Second World Kurultai of Bashkirs

June 14, the Second World Kurultai of Bashkirs started its work in Ufa. The plenary session was opened by Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Rafael Baidavletov heading the Kurulatai's organizing committee. He presented the major delegations arrived from the regions of Russia, CIS and abroad. As R.Baidavletov informed, 708 of 717 elected delegates arrived at forum.

The president of Bashkortostan Murtaza Rakhimov in his report entitled "Through development and unification of peoples - to prosperity of Bashkortostan and all Russia", has shared ideas on today's problems and plans for tomorrow. He marked the growth of production in all leading sectors of national economy, preservation of integrity and stability of work of the fuel and energy complex.

The purpose of the Kurultai - comprehension of an optimum model of preservation and development of material and spiritual heritage of cultural, moral potential of the Bashkir nation in unity with other peoples of Bashkortostan, Russia and, as a whole, all world, he said.

President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev in his speech called it a historical event. Our peoples are twin-brothers. For many centuries we are walking side by side one road of history. We enjoy kindred languages, one religion, one culture. We have received this great gift from our ancestors. We should cherish and further bear this relationship. Only helping each other, supporting each other, our peoples can preserve themselves, he said.

President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev delivered to President of Bashkortostan Murtaza Rakhimov a colorful carpet with the image of Kul Sharif mosque.
