Mintimer Shaimiev:«Russia within limits of OIC can and should aspire to removing inter-confessional pressure in the world»

«A unipolar world without restraints and counterbalances turns into intensity of local wars», - President of Republic Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev declared today opening the second session of strategic vision group «Russia - Islamic world" .

According to the leader of Tatarstan, a mankind passed a long way and now represents a single community in person of international organizations. Meanwhile he emphasized that unity cannot consist in imposing values from the strong. So, as he said, a situation with Iraq had shown, that democratic processes should develop inside, instead of be imposed from outside. « Liberal ideas - great achievement of mankind, but they are not exported as cars», - he said.

In Mintimer Shamiev's opinion, the Islamic world today possesses an immense potential, among Muslim scientists there are many Nobel winners. «I am convinced that prospects of the Islamic world are connected not so much with hydrocarbonic raw material, but with reception of new knowledge», - he emphasized.

President of Tatarstan noted that the Russian Federation within the limits of the IOC can and should aspire to removing inter-confessional pressure in the world. « Tatarstan is capable and aspires to bring its mite in developing this dialogue», - M.Shaimiev noted.
