President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev has had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Necdet Sezer

September 19, President of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Necdet Sezer and President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, who is on holiday in Antalya, had a telephone conversation.

During the conversation the presidents exchanged views on prospects of trade-economic and cultural cooperation development between the republics, marked the necessity of elaboration of some specific issues. It was highlighted that after 10-15 years of successful development the relationship between Tatarstan and Turkey created a good foundation for further broadening of interaction in various spheres.

The Turkish President marked big potential of development of Russian-Turkish relations that once again had been demonstrated during his official visit to the Russian Federation last June.

Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated President Sezer on the occasion of his 65th anniversary. He expressed his gratitude to Mr. Sezer for his personal contribution to the consolidation of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Turkey and marked that people of Tatarstan value these relations.
