Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the opening of Memorial complex “History of Statehood of Tatar people and the Republic of Tatarstan”

November 7, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the opening ceremony of the Memorial complex “History of Statehood of Tatar people and the Republic of Tatarstan” at the Kazan Kremlin.

The new complex includes constructions that are intertwined in their history and architecture: the Syuyumbike tower, building of the former Palace church and official residence of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. The historical place of where the Khan Palace and mosque used to stand, the necropolis of Kazan khans defined the choice of the place for the Museum-memorial complex.

The exposition of the museum tells about the history of statehood of Tatar people starting from 1st millennium BC till the modern period. The unique exponents were put together on the basis of archaeological collections as well gifts presented to the President of Tatarstan.
