November 21, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and Chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin, who arrived in Kazan the day before, visited a number of sport venues in the Tatarstan capital. They shared with journalists their opinion about Kazan’s being fully equipped as a candidate city for hosting World Summer Universiade.

November 20, Mintimer Shaimiev and Sergei Stepashin took part in the meeting at the Kazan Kremlin where the participant discussed preliminary results of audits undertaken by the RF Audit Chamber in the Republic of Tatarstan.
After the official event, the head of Tatarstan and the Chairman of the RF Audit Chamber visited Korston hotel and entertainment complex and Riviera entertainment complex. “It’ s European class”, Sergei Stepashin expressed his opinion about what he had seen.

November 21, the RT President and the Chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber viewed the covered training ground situated by the Central Stadium. Mintimer Shaimiev said that there is also a covered football field and training halls for athletics.
If FISU makes their choice in favour of Kazan, “there are no doubts that everything will be organized at the highest level”, the President declared. He also said that if Kazan becomes the venue for the 2001 Universiade, a number of large-scale constructions will be built and reconstructed, and not only sport ones. “We’ll start with the airport”, he said.
