Tatarstan President has met with Editor-in-chief of Izvestia newspaper

November 28, the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev received Mr, Vladimir Mamontov, Editor-in-chief of Izvestia newspaper.


Before the meeting with the head of the republic, the guest visited the International Horse-race complex Kazan, bowed to the icon of Our Lady of Kazan, and also visited the Kul-Sharif Mosque.
Vladimir Mamontov told journalists that he has got very warm impressions about Kazan. He also said that during the talk with the President, they touched upon a wide range of questions. “We mostly talked about inter-ethnic relations, not only in Tatarstan of course but also al over Russia and the world. We talked about issues of party building, discussed national projects ad how we live now in Russia, about the problems the country faces today. For me it was a good useful conversation with a wise interlocutor”.


As for aims of the visit to Tatarstan, Vladimir Mamontov explained: “We are aiming to broaden and improve presence of Izvestia in Tatarstan. We feel support in this sense and we’ll try to develop here. I am not going to hide it, the newspaper has lost some regional opportunities it used to have before. The next two years the newspaper will be looking to recover its positions of a nationwide newspaper.
