Session of International Council Presidium of Russian Compatriots to be held in Kazan in 2007

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev received in his Kremlin residence Count Petr Sheremetev – the descendant of an ancient gentry clan, numerous representatives of which contributed to establishment and development of Russian statehood. The sides discussed the issues of further cooperation of Tatarstan and France in cultural field.

Petr Sheremetev who was born in Morocco, visited the motherland of his ancestors 27 years ago. Since that time the count keeps regularly in contact with Russia. He is the founder of several enlightenment institutions in France and in Russia as well. Count Petr Sheremetev was awarded with a status of Russian citizens by Decree of President Putin in 2002 for great services of Sheremetevs clan.
