Chinese delegation has visited one of the Russian oldest universities

After the exhibition of Tatarstan commodity producers, the members of the Chinese delegation and head of the delegation President Hu Jintao visited Kazan State University.

RT Minister of Education and Science Rais Shaikhelislamov and Rector of the university Myakzyum Salakhov met the delegation at the university.

Waving Chinese, Russian and Tatarstan flags, students of Kazan State University welcomed the delegation. President Hu Jintao and President Mintimer Shaimiev talked with the students.

The tour of the university started with visiting the university history museum where the guests were guided by the director of the museum, Mrs. Stella Pisareva.

For the visit of the Chinese delegation, the university specialists prepared an exhibition dedicated to the history and culture of China. It boasts exponents brought by university professors from China in the 19th century.

The delegation also visited the classroom of the faculty of Law, which is a part of the museum, where students of Kazan Imperial University Leo Tolstoi and Vladimir Ulyanov (Lenin) attended lectures.

In the end of the tour, Chinese leader Hu Jintao made a memorial note in the University Book of guests of honour.
