Mintimer Shaimiev has met with Vaclav Klaus at the Kazan Kremlin

Vaclav Klaus got familiarized with Kazan Kremlin sights first. Mintimer Shaimiev gifted the distinguished guest the copy of 1000-years’ old Czech coin, which helped scholars prove Kazan Millennium. The conversation has taken place at Fireplace Hall of the President’s official residence in Kazan Kremlin.

The Presidents answered journalists’ questions after the meeting. “We greet the President of Czechia republic and thank him for his visit to our republic, - Mintimer Shaimiev emphasized. – It proves attention and interest of Czechia business circles and authorities to our republic. We appreciate it. We will advance in diverse collaboration”. The head of Tatarstan also noted that the exhibition “Czechia is Your Partner” will take place in Kazan in June 2007.

Vaclav Klaus answered journalists’ questions in Russian. “I am very glad that we decided to visit not only Moscow, but also Kazan, - he emphasized. – There were many offers; governors are discontented by the fact that we didn’t come to Yekaterinburg or Nizhniy Novgorod. We decided to come here and don’t regret it”.

V. Klaus indicated that Czechia is interested in developing cultural and economic ties with the Republic of Tatarstan. “I hope that my visit to Kazan will become an impulse for further development of relations, - he said. V. Klaus also added that he considers Tatarstan to be one of the most reliable economic partners. In his opinion, Moscow and Kazan are two priority regions in Czech-Russian cooperation.

Mintimer Shaimiev indicated that the Republic of Czechia was considered to be one of the most developed regions in Europe even in Soviet times. Czechia is successful in the filed of car-production and manufacturing industry at present. In his words, Czechia demonstrates many positive and useful examples to Tatarstan.

As M. Shaimiev noted, Permanent Representation of the Republic of Tatarstan in the republics of Czechia and Slovakia assist in expanding contacts between Czechia and Tatarstan.

The  Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Czechia Alexei Fedotov and RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov  participated in the meeting.

At the evening Czech delegation left Kazan.
