Mintimer Shaimiev, ‘Veterans of WWII made Victory Day the main celebration of our nation’

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev personally congratulated WWII veterans on the threshold of Victory Day.

Solemn reception has taken place at the Heraldic Hall of the Representation Building in Kazan Kremlin on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Victory. The first deputy Prime Minister of RT Ravil Muratov, deputy Chairman of RT State Council Rimma Ratnikova, RT Minister of Social Protection Klawdia Novikova, and RT Military Commissionaire Sergey Pogodin participated in the reception.

The war veterans and rear services workers from all over Tatarstan including two USSR Heroes took part in the meeting. The head of the republic took a picture with veterans. Mintimer Shaimiev personally greeted each of the veterans at the entrance to the hall and invited them “to feel themselves at home”.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev made a greeting speech on the meeting. “I am very glad that we gathered here on the threshold of Victory Day celebration, - the head of the republic said. – It is great that the contemporary generation has an opportunity to talk to you face-to-face. We all have an opportunity to get to know about the events on the frontline of the Great Patriotic War, on the fields and manufactures. About everything what was done for Victory”.

“To take this opportunity, I’d like personally and on behalf of RT State Council, RT Government and the whole multinational population of Tatarstan to bow low to your deed and to what you continue to do, - Mintimer Shaimiev declared. – I wish you health. And remember – we are with you. Congratulations, dear veterans!”.
