EBRD President fascinated by Sabantuy celebration

Bright celebration Sabantuy was arranged on May 19 on the territory of International Horse-Racing Complex “Kazan” for participants of the EBRD annual meeting.

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, Russia Minister of Economic Development and Trade German Gref, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jean Lemierre, RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin and other officials attended this event.

Young women wearing national dressed met the distinguished guests with chak-chak, bread and salt. Traditional competitions of Sabantuy celebration were presented at the Hippodrome: “kuresh” wrestling, rope-pulling, sack-fights, etc. National dances, singing, round dances were also presented to the guests.

A Russian village was reconstructed at the yard of Alexeevsky District – the EBRD representatives received embroidered towels. The guests visited a peasant’s log hut at the year dog Mamadysh District.

Thousands of balloons shot up at the end of Sabantuy and horse races started.
