All municipal districts and regions of Tatarstan received their symbols

Solemn ceremony of handing over certificates on state registration of official symbols of RT municipal formations has been held at the Heraldic Hall in Kazan Hall. Heads of 26 municipal districts of the republic received samples of coats of arms and flags of their territories from the hands of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev.

All new official symbols of municipal districts have been entered in the list of RF State Heraldic Register and also Tatarstan Heraldic Register. Thus Heraldic Council under RT President finished work on creation and registration of official symbols of large administrative units in RT. Official symbols of 45 municipal districts, 2 cities, 1 settlement of city type and 1 village settlement are included in the republican register. Coat of arms and flag of the Republic of Tatarstan, RT President’s standard, state awards of the republic, official sign of Mayor of Kazan, and symbols of some public unions are also in this list.

Work on development and registration of official coats of arms and flags of municipal regions and city districts of the republic had been held by the Heraldic Council under RT President for three years. The process of creating territorial symbols speeded up after the republican law “On local government in the Republic of Tatarstan” was approved in July 2004. All 999 municipal formations of Tatarstan received a right to establish their official symbols that reflect historical, cultural, national and other local traditions and peculiarities.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev mad ea speech on the ceremony and thanked all experts and heads who made efforts to elaborate official symbols of republican municipal formations. “I wish that would continue forever, for all times, - he noted. – I congratulate all us on receiving our own symbols! We have made a step forward towards further advancement of our nation’s spirituality”.

Responsible secretary of the Heraldic Council under RF President Gleb Kalashnikov and executive director of Russia Heraldic Experts Union Board of Directors Konstantin Mochenov also took part in today’s ceremony.
