Schneider Electric plans to open equipment industry’s plant in Tatarstan

Modern equipment industry’s plant is planned to be opened in Tatarstan. It was discussed during the meeting of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev with the representatives of the company Schneider Electric. The meeting took place in the Kazan Kremlin.

The delegacy of Schneider Electric was headed by the Chairman of the observation council of the company, Henry Lakmann. Schneider Electric was founded in 1836 in France. And now it is the world leader in producing electro technical equipment of the low voltage and means of automation. Company’s production is a wide range of electrical equipment and services under the world famous brands “Merlin Gerin”, “Telemecanique”, “Square D”. Company works in 190 countries, and it has 207 plants, 170 service centers and 124 logistic ones. Last year company’s turnover was 13,7 billion Euros.

“I know that your company has wonderful history, traditions, and good reputation”, pointed out Mintimer Shaimiev, opening the meeting. Talking about “Tatenergo”, he reminded that it is an independent energy holding company in RF. Earlier than other companies it started to reform and to adapt to the conditions of market economy. According to RT President, Anatoly Chubais said that Tatarstan company is somehow more successful than Russian electro-energetic holding. The head of the republic also underlined that it is necessary to reform country’s energy system as soon as possible. “I think that we are a little bit late. It is time to get renewed, - he underlined. – Thus we will sell the energy with the less prime cost; and this branch will become more effective and profitable”.

According to Mintimer Shaimiev he is satisfied that the representatives of the foreign company have come to Tatarstan with the intention to develop cooperation; and they even have done some steps for this. Yesterday in Zainsk there was holding an opening of CSC “Tatarstan electrotechnical company” – plant, which would produce electrotechnical equipment under the license of the company Schneider Electric. This plant was build due ti the initiative of JSC “Tatenergo” to produce in Tatarstan block complete transformer substations (BCTS) and its completes, using the technologies of Schneider Electric.

“We greet your interest to the cooperation with our energy company and we will do our best to help you, - RT President said to the foreign partners. – I think we should continue our cooperation”.

Then the journalists’ questions were answered by the chairman of Schneider Electric’s observation council Henry Lakmann and RT first vice Prime Minister, Minister of economy and industry, Boris Pavlov. According to Henry Lakmann, during the meeting with RT President they discussed the project of creating in Tatarstan a new plant, which will produce modern equipment to supply the cities’ enterprises with electrical energy. “The question of the plant’s location will be solved until the end of this year, - he said. – We don’t want to export you equipment form Eastern Europe or France. We want our plants to be as close as possible to our customers and clients. Tatarstan has all necessary conditions for plant building: effective work of republican government, qualified staff, the wish to develop, and very big customers – oil-processing plants and petrochemical complexes”.

RT Minister of economy and industry Boris Pavlov informed the journalists that the investments for the first step of project realization are about 8 million Euros. Necessary industry squares for project realization are 5,000 square meters. They plan to finish the first step of the project next year. “The plant will produce equipment, supplying the electro energy of low and middle voltage for the enterprises of petrochemical complex, - informed Boris Pavlov. – Besides, the equipment will be produced not only for Tatarstan but also for Russian market and countries of CIS.

Henry Lakmann added that during the meeting they were discussing the creation of educational center on the basis of Schneider Electric technologic in Kazan State Energy University.
