Mintimer Shaimiev visited performance “Uncle Vanya” in the staging of Lev Dodin

In the theatre, named after Kachalov, there was a performance “Uncle Vanya”, staged by national actor of Russia, laureate of state awards, art director of Europe’s Theater Lev Dodin. Tatarstan President and his wife were among the spectators.

Since June 2 Kazan is holding the stages of Academic small drama theater – Europe’s theatre. The tour takes place within the framework of three-year action “Legendary performances of SDT – Europe’s theatre in Russia”, which is presented by Federal agency for culture and cinematography, by Russian Union of industrialists and businessmen, charity organization “Art and Sport”. All together on the scene of Kazan Academic Russian big drama theatre, named after Kachalov, there will be presented three performances: “Brothers and sisters” by Abramov, “Uncle Vanya” by Chekhov, and “Moscow chorus” Petrushevsky.

Before the performance Mintimer Shaimiev communicated with the journalists. He pointed out that the tour of the famous theater in Kazan is the meaningful event for our city. Academic small drama theatre is the member of European theatres’ Union. It is the only one Russian theatre which has European status as “Odeon” (Paris) and “Piccolo” (Milan). According to the President, SDT is one of the rare theatres which was able to work in after-war years. Mintimer Shaimiev also underlined that the performance of “Uncle Vanya” is the face of Russian dramaturgy.

According to the critics, Lev Dodin’s “Ubcle Vanya” opened opportunities for classic in modern theater. “This wonderful performance is serious in its every part. We can see it in detailed working out of the role, every part of the place. E can see it in the relationships of the characters. Decorations of the talented theatre artist Borovskoy are magnificent, - underlines in his notice RF national actor Alexander Belinsky. – And even in our cruel and cynical time people still cry and laugh at the noble Chekhov’s characters. And they with pleasure watch the performance without laser rays and they listen to the speeches of the characters without loud phonogram”.
